Inka Urra Bodnar is an artist and advocate from Brooklyn, New York. Her artwork incorporates her Puerto Rican and Ukrainian heritage, blending the bright colors of her mothers island with the patterns of traditional Ukrainian embroidery. Inkas creates paintings ranging in medium from colored pencils to beeswax to digital illustrations. She often creates portraits of herself and her family members, making references to cultural traditions and art forms she was raised with (such as pysanky creation). Inka has had her pieces showcased in the Museum of the Moving Image, the Ukrainian Institute of America in Manhattan, the 2022 Cooper Union summer art intensive showcase, and has won a silver key in the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards. She has spent the last six years working as a freelance graphic designer, creating digital illustrations, posters, and animations for a variety of NGOs/small businesses. Currently, Inka is a rising senior at SUNY New Paltz, where she is majoring in International Relations and Minoring in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
